Top 3 jobs for May

There is so much to do on the allotment, I’m not really sure where to start, but my priorities are:

  1. Weeding – I seem to have done little else over the last couple of weeks, but remove weeds. And I still have more to do!
  2. Watering – although we have had a lot of rain recently, none of it falls inside the greenhouse, so I’m very mindful of the little plants that are in there. In summer you know you need to water inside and often outside the greenhouse, but it’s easy to forget the dry conditions in the greenhouse when it’s raining cats and dogs outside!
  3. Pest control – keeping your delicate seedlings pest free is really important in the early stages – it doesn’t take much effort for a nasty bug to chew through delicate shoots and roots
